Restructuring and upgrading
The object of the restricted architectural competition is the restructuring and fundamental expansion of the Giessen-Ost comprehensive school. The university town Giessen is planning the complete renovation of the comprehensive school, which, together with an evening school and another school, forms a new school campus in the immediate vicinity of the campus area of the Justus – Liebig – University in the east of the city. With the draft, the school receives a new extensive creative and functional overall concept.
Interaction and flexibility
The building ensemble of the new and existing buildings accommodates the needs of the comprehensive school, the new canteen and auditorium as well as 24 additional classrooms. The structuring of existing and newly planned areas creates a completely newly developed and clear orientation. In addition, the implementation of an open learning space concept supports the pedagogical concept of the comprehensive school by formulating spatial interaction and flexibility. The aim is to develop a forward-looking extension and restructuring that meets the design and technical requirements of a modern school building.
