Vis-à-vis Berlin Central Station
The subject of the invited competition is the urban planning and design of a facade for a city hotel with 400 rooms in an ensemble with Berlin’s central train station. Six invited architectural offices are planning facade designs for two construction phases in the expert procedure with the aim of integrating the urban-architectural design into the overall picture of the new Europaviertel and also developing an appropriately representative counterpart for the central station.
Urban facade
Detailed statements on the facades will be developed within the framework of this expert procedure, which take into account the different value of the streets, respond to the respective use and reflect both energy efficiency and economic efficiency in terms of sustainability. The master plan sets high standards for the sustainability of the emerging neighborhood. Sustainable urban development is applied as a primary criterion in the various phases of planning and implementation.
