Konrad Adenauer Foundation

Flowing extension

The existing Konrad Adenauer foundation building in Berlin-Tiergarten has been built in 2005. In 2014 we started working on the extension of the building by three wings with offices and conference rooms to form a quadrangle, which would enclose an inner courtyard open to the sky and flooded with light. The fusion of the new structure with the existing building connects the individual parts into a homogeneous whole, while creating new interior and exterior spatial qualities. A spatial and spatially accentuated dimension was added to the vast urban and street space. The sculpturally treated building envelope contrasts with a widely visible entrance gesture as a multi-story incision, while the flowing interior space links the spacious foyer to a pocket park via the courtyard.

Political education

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation works nationally and internationally for peace, freedom and justice through political education. It promotes and achieves liberal democracy, a social market economy and the development and consolidation of a consensus of values. The foundation is active throughout Germany with around 660 employees and sees its particular strength in political education work and its regional presence.
