New Research Center

The Berlin University of Applied Sciences and Economics (HTW Berlin) plans to build a Research Center for Culture and Computer Science (FKI) on Wilhelminenhofstraße, directly on the Spree River. The newly founded Berlin Institute for Non-Academic Continuing Education (BeWIKI) will be integrated into the planned research center.

Modular Building Blocks

The concept for the research center represents an initial, design-defining modular building block for the university’s future campus development, the requirements for which are currently being finalized. The building comprises three end structures facing the Spree River and a supplementary low-rise building block. This design allows for a separation between the high-traffic areas on the ground floor and the offices and laboratories on the upper floors. At the same time, it generates distinct, fundamental building blocks for the campus master plan.
